Romy Eskens

I am an Assistant Professor in the Ethics Institute at Utrecht University.

My research lies at the intersection of normative ethics, social philosophy, and moral psychology. I am currently writing about issues in the ethics of mind, personal relationships, moral address, moral equality, and degradation.

I obtained my PhD from Stockholm University in June 2022. My PhD work was supervised by Helen Frowe and Gunnar Björnsson, and based out of the Stockholm Centre for the Ethics of War and Peace. Prior to the PhD, I received a BPhil in Philosophy from the University of Oxford (Balliol College), and a BA in Philosophy and BA in History from Utrecht University.

My partner, Jonas Haeg, is also a philosopher, as are my brother, Floris Eskens, and my uncle, Erno Eskens
